Wrath of the Lich King News

  • Blizzard Nominated For More Awards - AIAS (The
Academy of Interactive Arts and Sciences) has nominated Blizzard for three
different awards including Game of the Year, & MMO Game of the year neither
of which come as a huge surprise to us hardcore WoW fans. The other nomination
is for Outstanding Achievement in Original Music Composition. The winners will
be announced at the 2009 D.I.C.E. Summit in Las Vegas Feb. 18th-20th. Good luck
    Blizz!
  • No Wood Needed - Some may disagree, but I think
this is one of the greater changes made with the latest patch. You no longer
need simple wood to create a basic campfire, just flint and tinder or a Gnomish
Army Knife! I can't count the number of times I needed to cook something up and
went to light a fire and had no wood...so frustrating. Ah..one less thing to
    stress about :-)
  • Arena Reset - Arenas were not unaffected by the
many bugs of 3.0.8, quite the contrary actually. Bornakk (a Blizz poster) said
people might see some "odd behavior" in the new arena system but things should
"straighten out fairly quickly". Problem is that things got a little too odd and
teams were able to soar to the 2k plus point mark with a great deal of ease and
getting achievements, items and points without even breaking a sweat. Blizzard's
solution: disable the whole system, and roll things back to their
pre-weekly-maintenance state. Which meant all items and achievements gained
"illegitimately" were removed, all points refunded, and gems and enchanting
    materials were returned. Whew...
  • More WoW Player Creativity - I always like
featuring news items that have to do with the core of the success of this
game...the players themselves. I love it when players get creative and "think
outside the box". While surfing the web for news items I came across something
that made me laugh so hard I thought I was gonna pee my pants (ok that's
probably more than you wanted to know, but anywho...) I found the best
    visual strat
for the Sartharion fight where the player explaining it has
used common household items to walk you through positioning during this fight
step-by-step. Enough from me, I'll let the strat speak for
itself! Thank you to the guild for the great strat and the
    gut-busting laugh!
  • Pest Control - This is the name of the new
critter-related achievement that was introduced with patch 3.0.8. I don't know
about you guys, but I am an achievement hound, I love 'em love 'em love 'em! I
went out and /love (d) all the sweet little critters for the To All The Squirrels I've Loved
    Before
achievement and I plan to arcane shot all these pesky vermin to get
    the Pest
    Control
achievement. After all I hate snakes, spiders and bugs anyways..this
    will be FUN!
  • Good For a Chuckle - While (again) browsing the web
the other day I found a couple of WoW comic strips that I got quite a kick out
of, so I figured I would share them with you. The first one form Dark Legacy
Comics is about something I know we have ALL had an issue with at one point or
    another...no
    fly zones
(I'm looking at you Wintergrasp). The second of the two which is
from Experience Points has to do with the frustration over trying like hell to
    run
    up rep.
    with any given faction.
  • WoW Mouse No Good - A while ago we told you about
the new WoW mouse by SteelSeries. There was a lot of hype surrounding this
product and we figured if Blizzard was willing to put their stamp of approval on
it, well it must be good, right? Well it turns out that while the mouse is
getting mixed reviews as far as usability and quality there is an even bigger
problem with using it for it's intended purpose (WoW). The mouse has features
and capabilities such as making use of delayed, timed or looping scripts which
are all functions that are AGAINST Blizzard's EULA for WoW! Now, their official
stance on the subject is that people "just not use those features"
while playing WoW. Ummm...then why are they there as a function of the software
and of the device itself in the first place? It seems to me if you're gonna slap
your name on something, therefore endorsing it, that it should not have
functions which can result in the banning of the users account. But what do I
    know? Hey...don't answer that!
